Discover Kissamos

Kissamos (Kastelli) is a modern seaside town, 36km east of Chania, and only 5,5 Km from Azure Beach Villas or 1.30′ hours walking from the W3 walking path. It has 3821 permanent residents and its economy is based mainly on agriculture with the renowned olive oil, wine, and raki.
As it is referred above, the city is called Kissamos as well as Kasteli. The name “Kasteli” was given to the city because of the Venetian fortress that once adorned the city, but now it doesn’t exist. The name “Kissamos” is much older and it is considered pre-Greek, but there is not a certain explanation for its origin.

In the summer months, the heart of the city beats on the promenade, lined by tavernas, cafes and bars which are open from early morning till late at night.
